No, a doula is NOT “just like a midwife”! A doula does not and is not qualified to perform any medical procedures including, cervical checks, blood pressure checks, fetal heart rate monitoring, delivering/catching the baby etc. A doula is NOT and does NOT replace a medical care provider such as a midwife or an obstetrician.

If you want to mix packages together, you totally can. Maybe you want more prenatals, or more sessions, we can arrange something. I am flexible.
It is a great choice to have both of us in your pocket. Regardless of which service you pick with me, I aim to work with your health care provider. Never to replace.
Sadly, doula care is not covered by provincial health care. Some insurance companies may cover a doula but it depends on which organization the doula is trained through. Most doulas (myself included) offer sliding scale, payment plans, and more, so do reach out if you are needing support.
You can hire a birth doula as soon as you find out your expecting, or even a couple weeks before your due date. Though, it is recommended that you book sooner due to doula availability as well as forming a closer relationship with your doula.
As a sibling doula you can rest with ease knowing your other babies are well taken care of. If you are hiring me for postpartum work or even just want it as a stand-alone option.
I come to your house, take care of your kids, pets, and ensure they are able to attend their schooling or regular programs. If you homeschool, I can even lead class to ensure they continue their education.
Perfect for people who have no one in the area to help you.
I commonly am asked why this add-on exists and its simply because getting some in-person support of having a natural induction can be super beneficial.
With western medicine we are pushed to have a baby instead have a – day of nurturing + encouragement instead of “I’ll make labor happen.”
