BMI Bull💩

Let’s talk about the BMI Bulls**t!

As of this date, my BMI states I am 52.9 when it’s over 30 or higher you are considered obese.

Most doctors like to use Morbidly obese just to scare you a little bit more. @bodybravecanada made a wonderful chart on Instagram called BMI Bulls**t.

They explain in this image that it’s a tool that was created for healthcare professionals to equate weight with your health. But they claim that weight isn’t the only thing they should be looking
at. Look at the medical history of the patient, cardiovascular health, access to healthcare, blood pressure and mental health.

This generation is BIG on equality between males and females and that we should all be treated fairly and equally amongst each other regardless of the differences.

Why is this not something that is happening to us Plus size people? It’s unfair and unjust! Equality should be considered regardless of body type, religion, race, culture, gender and so many other things I can’t list them all.

I have heard that some people will then be excluded from having a home birth, waterbirth or even midwifery care. I am unaware of that protocol here in Ontario, Canada but I do plan on doing more research into the subject matter.

This is such an upsetting situation since I am plus size as well and I know what I want from any future births. To hear this just drives me mad and thought it important to share it with others. We fight for equality, but this is something that should be fought more for us plus-size women.
